Can Remedial Massage Therapists Diagnose?

The short answer is NO they cannot diagnose, Remedial Massage Therapists can only recommend and refer to best practices, guides and suggest various exercises to assist the client with the health and their journey back to health.

Remedial Massage Therapists cannot make claims to cure, to be miracle workers, and to act like doctors or specialists, they are not qualified to do so.

However Remedial Massage Therapists are well with in their rights to suggest various tips to assist you the client with your injury or pain, they typically do this through stretches, trigger point releases, strengthening exercises and activations

If you are looking for a diagnosis, start with your GP, ask him to refer you to a specialist, or a Muscolo skeletal GP/Doctor and/or Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Osteopath.

In the meantime if you are struggling with tight and stiff muscles and want a Remedial Massage to have a look and ask them their thoughts i am sure your local Remedial Massage Therapist would be more than happy to assess, ask you questions, conduct a few special tests and give you some sound recommendations to help you with your concerns.

Even though Remedial Massage therapists can’t diagnose it doesn’t mean that they can’t help you with your situation. It all depends on what is going on, what you want to achieve, what are your goals, and what is your history. In most cases the diagnosis is peace of mind for the client and doesn’t change the outcome moving forward anyway.

In summary if you are looking for a diagnosis unfortunately your Remedial Massage Therapist is not going to be able to help you, go and see your GP.
