Suncorp Stadium

The official name of the Suncorp Stadium is Lang Park and it is also known as Brisbane Stadium as it is situated in Brisbane City, the Capital of Queensland. It is one of the most premier sports and outdoor concert venue in Australia. It is state-of-the-art and a world-class stadium that was established in 1914. In the earlier stages it was a park that hosted a number of sports including cycling, athletics, and soccer, later in 1957 the lease of the park was taken over by the Brisbane Rugby League and this amazing stadium was refurbished and ever since then, it has been a great host of national and international Rugby League, Rugby Union, soccer and concerts.

Yes! Although the stadium itself was supposed to be the host for Rugby League it has also had also turned out to be Queensland’s premier venue for Rugby Union and Soccer. 

Structure 

The capacity of the stadium is quite large having 52,500 seats. The overall look is spacious making it an ideal location for the local and international matches allowing the crowd to enjoy their favorite team matches in an airy and capacious space. The outer look of the stadium is even more attractive having the bronze statues of Wally Lewis (Former professional Rugby League Footballer), Darren Lockyer (Former rugby league footballer), Mal Meninga (Head coach of the Australian National Team), and Arthur Beetson (Coach and Rugby league Footballer) erected outside the stadium which represents the pride of the Queensland pretty fairly.

Awards and Records

During the celebrations of 150 amazing years of the Queensland, in 2009, the Suncorp Stadium also known as Lang Park was announced as one of the most adored Icons of Queensland for its starring role as a "structure and engineering feat". 

An unbelievable crowd of 52,540 crazy fans of Rugby League was spotted in the match of Queensland vs New South Wales in the State of Origin Series 2017. All 1968, 1975, 1977, 2008 and 2017 Rugby League World Cup were held at the Suncorp Stadium. 

Concerts 

The Suncorp Stadium has been a great host for the concerts and since 2006, a number of huge musical concerts are held at this amazing and spacious park till date including Eminem, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Bon Jovi, and the most recent was on 19 January 2019 by Phil Collins. 

The Ed Sheeran concerts held on the 20th and 21st March 2018 were the record breakers in terms of public attendance and the crazy crowd making a total of 106,399 attendees in two days. 

How to reach?

The Suncorp Stadium is easy to reach and accessible as it is at an easy pedestrian walking distance from the CBD Brisbane. It is also easy to reach the stadium by bus catching it from the popular Milton CityCat stop. 

The train access is easy from the Milton and Roma Streets. Moreover, on the days when the stadium is hosting matches, the ticket holders get train tickets free of cost.
